Operating Excellence (OPEX)
We are committed to the Servier Transformation project through our Operational Excellence (OPEX) program, which we employ across our contract development and manufacturing functions. This program aims to decrease production costs by 25% at our sites in France, Ireland and Poland by 2018. By 2020, all Servier pharmaceutical and chemical R&D and manufacturing plants across the global network will be part of this program.
Initially rolled out and tested successfully at our Arklow site in Ireland, the OPEX program has been implemented since September 2016 across the European sites at Gidy (France), Arklow (Ireland) and Warsaw (Poland). By 2020, the focused 4-month implementations will cover all the units of each site, from production to all support functions.
At Gidy and Warsaw, the implementation for the blisters and bottles packaging units increased productivity by 20% for Gidy and 50% for Warsaw. At Arklow, the implementation conducted on the tableting and coating workshop, increased productivity by 40%. These results meet the targets set for each site.
The OPEX program is structured around five main axes:
- People at the heart of the transformation
- Learning by doing
- Acceleration
- Ambitious targets
- Knowing and understanding
The program’s success relies on:
- Everyone’s willingness to play a role in the group’s transformation and to contribute to making our industrial sites more competitive (contract manufacturing approach) and to making industry a competitive advantage for the group.
- The commitment of the teams and their daily efforts, both individually and collectively, to be mobilized for transformation and develop new ways to meet the objectives.
